Bigfoot Territory
Salt Fork State Park, located in eastern Ohio, spans an impressive 17,229 acres, providing an ideal habitat for a large creature like Bigfoot. The park is teeming with wildlife, including deer, squirrels, and rabbits, all contributing to an environment where a creature of this size could thrive. Additionally, Salt Fork Lake, a serene body of water within the park, further enhances its appeal by offering a reliable water source which could attract the elusive being.
The park’s dense forests and rugged terrain create numerous concealed spots that would allow a creature like Bigfoot to move about undetected. Since the mid-1980s, reports of Bigfoot sightings have gained popularity in the area, with over thirty-six sightings documented between then and 2018. Each report adds to the intrigue and fascination surrounding this legendary creature.
Every May, Salt Fork State Park transforms into a bustling hub for Bigfoot enthusiasts during the annual Ohio Bigfoot Conference. Attendees gather to share their experiences, learn more about the legend, and hope to witness or hear signs of Bigfoot, such as the unusual wood knocks that some attribute to the creature. This event solidifies Salt Fork State Park’s status as a significant location for those interested in Bigfoot, as it continues to be a place filled with stories and thrilling encounters.

The Hike:
0.8 miles. The Morgan’s Knob Loop Trail is a short loop through forest and along both dirt trail and old roadway. The trail begins just past a grassy section near the parking lot on a dirt path through a thick pine grove. When the dirt path ends, hikers turn left at the old road and follow it above an area where a farm once stood. A wooden sign marks where Morgan’s Knob Loop turns left near a waterfall. Follow the path around as it comes within sight of the lake, then through a deep ravine, outcroppings, and back to the parking lot.
